About America’s First Foodie Dinner
Our annual dinner pays homage to the father of American
cuisine, James Beard, who was born in Portland and spent his summers in
Gearhart. At a time when French cooking was considered the only food with
culinary sophistication, Beard introduced Americans to the food of his
childhood, the food of the Pacific Northwest. We honor the chef and America’s
first “foodie” with a multicourse dinner based on Beard’s love of the Oregon
Coast. Courses are paired with Edgefield wines.
Discover why James Beard remained drawn to Gearhart, even
after moving to New York – book a room to stay the weekend and explore this
sliver of the Oregon Coast!
