Twisted Pine

Twisted Pine

Praised by NPR for their "upbeat, poppy vibe; energetic, driving rhythms; and virtuosic solos,” Twisted Pine [out of Boston and Toronto] released their sophomore full-length Right Now during the pandemic. On that record, and the record they're writing now, they explore a sound they call Americana funk, taking traditional music in exhilarating directions. "We’re rooted in bluegrass," says bassist Chris Sartori, "continually inspired by explorers like Bela Fleck, Jerry Douglas, and Sierra Hull. Right Now takes this heritage into a new dimension. Our bluegrass is jazzy, our indie folk is poppy, our grooves are funky." Twisted Pine is Kathleen Parks, on fiddle and lead vocals, Dan Bui on mandolin, Chris Sartori on bass, and Anh Phung on flute. They all sing.

"They were once bluegrass," writes The Boston Globe, "but ... this Boston band has become something else, a wider version of string band, boundary jumpers akin to outfits like Punch Brothers, Nickel Creek, and Crooked Still."

“The band’s 2020 album Right Now is progressive bluegrass or maybe chamber folk, or prog rock, or jazz fusion or just pop with an experimental bent. Whatever the genre, give the group a bluegrass Grammy for good measure”  -- The Boston Herald

“Each member of this band is a runaway freight train of talent on their own, but together the jubilance of sound they unleash on a crowd is something to be marvelled.” — Red Line Roots

“Twisted Pine doesn’t just break the rules, they rewrite them.”  -- Glide

Eugenia Riot

Eugenia Riot

Eugenia Riot is the new musical brainchild of Portland based singer-songwriter Leigh Jones (Crow and the Canyon, Five Letter Word). The name is taken from Jones's eldest known female ancestor, Eugenia Riot, born in the year 1205 in Yorkshire, England. The original songs of Eugenia Riot are at once personal and relatable, idiosyncratic and infectious, with Jones's contemplative lyrics always buoyed by her lilting, folky vocals.
