Based out of North Portland, The Devil’s Comfort brings a distinctive alternative twist to a classic Americana, folk and blues sound. Playing both originals and covers, ranging from Bruce Springsteen, The Weeknd and Vance Joy, among others. The Devil’s Comfort prides itself both on music that rocks and songs you can cry in your beer to.
Born and raised in Oregon, Libbie Schrader is a songwriter with a passionate alt-pop/rock style. She won the first Pantene Pro-Voice competition, beating out over 1,200 other female-fronted acts for the award, and her prizes included a nationwide tour with Poe and a demo deal with Atlantic Records. The following summer, Schrader's band also took part in Jewel's "Soul City Cafe" program for independent artists and opened three shows on Jewel's "This Way" tour.
Schrader's 2004 release, Letters to Boys (available on iTunes), included four tracks produced by Erik Penny, and these tracks were given Music Connection Magazine's highest demo rating of 2004. One of these tracks ("Come When I Call") also received the top review of the week from NPR.org. In 2005, she released Taking the Fall, produced by Grammy winner Brian Paturalski (Outkast, Faith Hill).
Schrader was recently named as one of Music Connection's "Hot 100 Unsigned Artists" for 2006, and she received a coveted MySpace feature in 2006 as well. Libbie appeared on the 2006 Gilmore Girls season finale performing her song "Sweet When You Wanna Be," and her song "Wish You Were the Woman" was a semi-finalist in the 2007 International Songwriting Competition.
