About Sundown Grand Ol' Country Festival

In the heart of summer, we're launching a music festival -- different than the rest, ‘cause it's free and lasts four days!

Grammy-nominated Brandy Clark is the headliner on Saturday, July 22! Brandy's set will highlight the variety of music at this festival; Country, bluegrass, Americana...the performers we've lined up will be heard indoors and out on multiple stages, with their own styles and talent to make each day a memorable one.

Whether it's the sweet Americana of Ashleigh Flynn & The Riveters on Saturday or the groovin' tunes of Jawbone Flats on Friday, you'll find live music across the grounds; at Pat's Corner, our special main stage out on the front lawn, and at the Garage Door, so feel free to wander with a beverage and discover a new favorite.

Why we play music:

For the love of it. Because we're hungry. To make people happy and dance. To make all the pretty girls cry. Because we're high. Because we're low. Because we're drunk or ascetic. Because we can't in good conscience do anything else.

Paul Chesne (born June 4, 1976) is an American country & soul singer-songwriter and guitarist. He has traveled throughout the United States and played well over 1200 shows since 1999 including cutting his teeth playing upwards of 150 times at the infamous Kibitz Room in Canter's Deli. He has written over 200 songs and released 5 full length albums and an EP featuring (here comes some name dropping):

Dave Roe (Johnny Cash, Dwight Yoakam, Louvin Brothers), Mitch Marine (Smash Mouth, Dwight Yoakam, Tripping Daisy), Kenny Vaughan (Marty Stuart, Lana Del Rey, Ray Lamontagne), Keith Gattis (Dwight Yoakam, Kenny Chesney), Skip Edwards (Dwight Yoakam, Keith Richards, Norah Jones, Lucinda Williams), The Webb Sisters (Leonard Cohen), Elvis Perkins and Willie Chambers of The Chambers Brothers.

His lyrics range from the whimsical, political and humorous to the dark and poetic.

The current backing band has been together for several hundred shows and features "Emperor" Josh Norton (guitar), Jon "Pontiac" Niemann (keyboards & Wurlitzer piano), Jason "J-Sonic" Chesney (bass) and Matt "Impresser Never" Lesser (drums).

The cover of the 2005 release "Wet Dog Man" features a painting by noted guerrilla political artist Robbie Conal.

Folkslinger

Folkslinger conveys a melodic soundscape, balancing ambient americana storytelling with textured tones of shoe-gaze psychedelics. The groups songs are layered pop formats designed to break your heart or mend it. Anticipate songs about lovers lost, courted, gained, absent and new as well as tales of friends here, there, present and gone. Folkslinger builds songs about life, it's struggles and celebrations. With quirky wordplay and catchy guitar lines you may find yourself lost in song and the moment of now.
