Raised on a diet of old time honky-tonk and outlaw country (Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Buck Owens) and inspired by country-rockers of the early 70's like The Flying Burrito Brothers, John Prine and Jerry Jeff Walker, Paulson writes and performs an original form of Americana he has dubbed "Hippiebilly."
Since teaching himself at a young age to play guitar and harmonica and to write songs, Paulson has traveled the country playing country rock (the Tingler Band), Motown hits and original soul (Sig & The Sahibs), and rock in James T. & The Toughs, a band in which he replaced future Canned Heat guitarist Henry Vestine. In more recents years, he's been focused on solo performance and on his songwriting, determined to create greats songs reminiscent of the style he loved to listen to in his formative years - but with his own "Hippiebilly" twist.
