About Vicki Porter & Wil Kinky

Imagine Aretha Franklin and Joe Cocker-with a little live looping thrown in!

Vicki Porter (aka Mz. V) is the former co-vocalist of neo-soul band Brownish Black. She channels an amazing soul voice and has an authentic connection with audiences. Wil Kinky is an talented guitarist and singer whose left-handed playing is combined with orchestral live looping. Together they will transport you back to an era where music meant something and every word and every note was on purpose.

Porter grew up in North Portland during the heyday of soul music, listening to the now defunct soul station KQIV, singing at friends' parties and recording backing vocals with Dan Brewster from the lauded funk/soul 70's band, Pleasure. When Mz V. closes her eyes, holds her hands out from her sides and belts it out, there's no question that she's the real deal. Her authentic voice evokes a holy trinity of Aretha Franklin, Sharon Jones and Adele.

Kinky is based in Portland but grew up on a blueberry farm in the Willamette Valley. His self-titled album has brought him growing acclaim in addition to a performance distinguished by his fiercely unique guitar style. Think John Mayer meets Ray LaMontagne at a Radiohead concert. Catch him solo, fronting his own band, or shredding on lead guitar for other acts.
