History and Application of the Ouija Board

With this lecture, we will explore the history and development of Ouija, dispel its misconceptions and inaccuracies portrayed in the media and mainstream culture, and examine use of the board as a paranormal communicative tool with outside stimuli, as well as a parapsychological communicative tool with the self.

About the Speaker:
Montana's involvement within the realm of the paranormal stems from when she was harassed by a dark entity as a child. She has since been formally investigating with various psychic and paranormal organizations for over 20 years. Montana is a published freelance writer with areas of specialty in holistic healing, paganism, witchcraft and the occult. She is an Occult Specialist and works as an Independent Consultant to several local, as well as international, paranormal and parapsychological research organizations. In addition to taking on investigative casework, she holds lectures and teaches classes on occult-related topics, and has been a guest to a myriad of radio, podcast and film projects.

Montana is also the direct descendant of two distinct bloodlines from the Salem Witch Trials. She is the tenth great-granddaughter of Susannah North Martin, who was hanged in 1692 and the tenth great-granddaughter of Rebecca Shelley Addington Chamberlain, who died in prison in 1692 whilst awaiting execution.

Montana maintains that, because ghosts are earthbound energies, the whole of the paranormal and parapsychological fields are subtopic to the studies of theology and spirituality. Both an ordained minister and pagan priestess, she is currently obtaining her PhD in holistic theology. A Whitefish, Montana native, Montana Jordan now resides in Portland, Oregon.

Paranormal Pub

Paranormal Pub

Join us once a month to hear from experts in unexplainable phenomena - think UFOs, extraterrestrials, Bigfoot, ESP, ghosts and beyond. Come have a beer and a burger handcrafted beverage, concessions, and/or a slice of pizza, settle in and learn something new from a curated line-up of scholars, experiencers and others.

According to Wikipedia: "Paranormal events are phenomena described in popular culture, folklore and other non-scientific bodies of knowledge, whose existence within these contexts is described to lie beyond normal experience or scientific explanation.

A paranormal phenomenon is different from hypothetical concepts such as dark matter and dark energy. Unlike paranormal phenomena, these hypothetical concepts are based on empirical observations and experimental data gained through the scientific method.

The most notable paranormal beliefs include those that pertain to ghosts, extraterrestrial life, unidentified flying objects, psychic abilities or extrasensory perception and cryptids."

We thank the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) for coordinating and hosting this programming at the historic Mission Theater.

History

The location that serves as one of McMenamins favorite neighborhood theater pubs was the locus of great spiritual zeal beginning in the 1890s. That's when the Swedish Evangelical Mission established its church here....

From a church to a theater-pub, the Mission's history ain't exactly saintly. Click here for more info!
