Jazz guitar virtuoso Vince Brown has played with the best of 'em.  Catch him at the Spar playing solo jazz guitar in a style reminiscent of the great Joe Pass.  

Brown is familiar to audiences in the Pacific Northwest from his work with gypsy jazz group Hot Club Sandwich; the western swing outfit Red Brown & the Tune Stranglers; the modern jazz ensemble The Greta Jane Quartet and countless appearances on stage and in the studio with many of the finest musicians the region has to offer including Pearl Django; Del Ray; Dan Tyak; Eric Stern; Paul Anastasio; Paul Mehling; and many more.

James Mason

At age 11 James entered his first fiddle contest. At age 13 he began learning Texas Style fiddling from the legendary Benny Thomasson, while keeping within earshot of Swing and Jazz and the music of Bob Wills, Stephane Grappelli, and Joe Venuti.

In 2014 James’ won first place at both the National Swing Fiddle Championship at Weiser ID and the first annual Bob Wills Fiddle Contest in Greenville, TX a stellar accomplishment.

James enjoys teaching, performing and playing for dancers. He currently resides near Portland, OR and is active in multiple bands performing Swing, Western Swing, and Gypsy Jazz. A fine craftsman as well as a fine fiddler, James has been repairing, restoring, and making violin bows at the David Kerr Violin Shop in Portland since the 1980s.
