About Celtic Paganism in Modern Practice

Celtic Paganism in Modern Practice

Presented by Iris Meredith Bell and Jenny Wilde

In order to understand modern American paganism, one must understand the pre-modern Celtic spiritual worldview. Who is the Goddess? Is She one or three or both at once? How do the changing of seasons and the ancient agricultural calendar affect our modern lives? How does the practice of magic connect us more deeply with nature and our own bodies?

Join Jenny and Iris to explore the practices and beliefs in Celtic Paganism, delving into mythology, divination,  herbalism, and rituals. Learn about the Celtic view of the Goddess, of the changing of seasons, and of utilizing magic to influence the world. We will even do a little magic together!

About the Speakers:

Iris Meredith Bell has been a witch, ritualist, and tarot reader for over 25 years. She has a passion for mythology, beautiful crystals and stones, and is currently studying to incorporate astrology into her practice. She holds an MA in Philosophy and Religion, and a third degree High Priestesshood in the Evensong Tradition of Wicca. Iris is the store manager, buyer, and a tarot reader at The Raven's Wing Magical Co. in SE Portland.

Jenny Wilde is a witch, ritualist, tarot reader, and herbalist with over 20 years of practice. Truthfully, she has been a lifelong maker, healer and artist. She holds a BFA in Sculpture, has worked as a doula, pharmacy technician,  and is currently financial manager for The Raven's Wing Magical Co. She is the creatrix behind Sheltering Tree Herbal Remedies, co-lead of the monthly Brighid's Sanctuary group,  and can regularly be found talking to trees and making potions.

About Paranormal Pub

Paranormal Pub

Join us once a month to hear from experts in unexplainable phenomena - think UFOs, extraterrestrials, Bigfoot, ESP, ghosts and beyond. Come have a beer and a burger handcrafted beverage, concessions, and/or a slice of pizza, settle in and learn something new from a curated line-up of scholars, experiencers and others.

According to Wikipedia: "Paranormal events are phenomena described in popular culture, folklore and other non-scientific bodies of knowledge, whose existence within these contexts is described to lie beyond normal experience or scientific explanation.

A paranormal phenomenon is different from hypothetical concepts such as dark matter and dark energy. Unlike paranormal phenomena, these hypothetical concepts are based on empirical observations and experimental data gained through the scientific method.

The most notable paranormal beliefs include those that pertain to ghosts, extraterrestrial life, unidentified flying objects, psychic abilities or extrasensory perception and cryptids."
