About Thomas Jefferson: The Man and his Legacy

Founding Father, President of the United States, Vice-President of
the United States, primary draftsman of the Declaration of Independence, author
of the Virginia Statute for Religious Freedom, founder of the University of
Virginia, initiator of the Louisiana Purchase and the Lewis and Clark
Expedition. Thomas Jefferson has a long list of political
achievements. But he was also an architect, farmer, scientist, father,
and husband. Lynne McKee, former Collections Manager at Monticello, will
share an insider’s view of Jefferson’s historic home and the man behind the
myths.
About the Speaker:
Lynne McKee holds a BA in Anthropology from UC Davis and a
Master’s Degree in Museum Studies from San Francisco State University. She
has worked for a variety of museums including the Smithsonian Institution’s
National Museum of Natural History, but her most memorable museum position was
in the Curatorial Department at Monticello, Thomas Jefferson’s historic home in
Charlottesville, Virginia, where she was responsible for Jefferson’s personal
memorabilia and artifacts.
