Oregon's hiking guru takes us on an illustrated tour of a dozen new hikes he discovered while researching the recently released fifth edition of his book, 100 Hikes in NW Oregon & SW Washington. Come discover a new waterfall trail near Hood River, an overlooked wildflower hike on the permit-free side of Mt. Adams, and a new kids' hike along the Columbia River near Portland. Along the way get the latest news about fire-damaged trails in the Columbia Gorge, as well as anecdotes about history, wildflowers, and more.

About the Speaker:
Sullivan has written 21 books about the Northwest, including Hiking Oregon's History, Oregon Favorites, and The Case of D.B. Cooper's Parachute. His journal of a 1000-mile hike he took across Oregon, Listening for Coyote, was chosen by the Oregon Cultural Heritage Commission as one of Oregon's "100 Books," the most significant books in the state's history.

A fifth-generation Oregonian, Sullivan began hiking at the age of five and has been exploring new trails ever since. After studying at Deep Springs College in the California desert, receiving an English degree from Cornell University, and studying linguistics at Germany's Heidelberg University, he earned an M.A. in German literature from the University of Oregon. He has been happily married to the artist Janell Sorensen for 40 years.
