As we commemorate the centenary of the ratification of the Nineteenth Amendment, we invite you to learn more about the long history of women working to achieve voting rights in 1912 and the continued activism of Oregon women in the struggle to ratification from 1912 to 1920, and beyond. In addition, we'll provide ideas for how to connect to, or create, a 2020 event in your community.

About the Speakers:
Janice Dilg is the principal of HistoryBuilt, a historical consulting firm, and curator of Oregon Jewish Museum and Center for Holocaust Education's core exhibition, Discrimination and Resistance, An Oregon Primer. Her research and writing are focused on documenting Oregon women's labor, political, and cultural history.

Kimberly Jensen is Professor of History and Gender Studies at Western Oregon University, and the biographer of suffragist Esther Pohl Lovejoy. Oregon's Doctor to the World: Esther Pohl Lovejoy and a Life in Activism can be purchased here. Jensen's current book project examines Oregon women, citizenship, and civil liberties and the growth of the surveillance state from 1913-1925.

Dilg and Jensen were founders of the Oregon Women's History Consortium in 2010 and have collaborated since then on many public history projects that illuminate the significant history of Oregon's women.
