About Kendl Winter

Kendl Winter

A traveler, a dreamer, a banjo player, Kendl Winter sprouts alfalfa beans in mason jars in the back of her tour van and counts the days until she returns home to her home in Olympia to write songs on her banjo through the rainy afternoons.  The K records solo artist, these days Kendl is usually touring nationally in her banjo based roots duo, The Lowest Pair.  Paste Magazine wrote about her duo ""With their bare-bones instrumentation and country-inspired, heartstring-tugging narratives, The Lowest Pair might be one of the best under-the-radar Americana duos today."

It is a rare treat to find Kendl back home in the northwest sifting through her solo material and collaborating with other talented performers in these intimate Mcmenamin settings.  Kendl's music is drawn from a broad range of influences.  Some songs are bluegrass.  Some songs smack a bit more of country, with twangy guitar and foot-stomping rhythm, yet Kendl has created a show with her strong skilled instrumentation and unique quirkiness that is one moving piece, that tells a story. Perhaps it is her voice...perhaps it's her pure dedication to writing the perfect song that serves her so well--to write a song that plays to the seasons, to the harvest, and speaks to the truth about life and love.  Kendl is a storyteller, who takes the listener by the ears and holds them, captivated, until she is finished.
