About Chapel Pub

You'll make a vow to return again and again...

Located in the North Portland Piedmont neighborhood, home of Portland Community College’s Cascade Campus, the North Portland library, Jefferson High School, and the Peninsula Park rose garden., you’ll find what was once the historic Little Chapel of the Chimes (circa 1932) has been transformed into a community gathering spot, open daily for lunch, dinner and later on.Step inside the Pub and take a seat at the mahogany wood tugboat-shaped bar, or cozy up next to the crackling fireplace or Round Oak wood stove. If outdoors is what you’re looking for, have a seat out on the front or back patio, where you’ll find firepits, lanterns and a place for you and your pup to relax and enjoy.

History, art and craftsmanship is in abundance in the renovated space, with original work mixing with new additions. While you're here, take a closer look at the intricate ironwork throughout the property, fashioned by talented craftsman O.B. Dawson in the early 1930s. Look familiar? Perhaps because Dawson's work is also showcased at Timberline Lodge, the University of Oregon and Oregon State.

Look up and you’ll see the pub’s central chandelier and wall sconces, which are original to the building and were fabricated in 1932 by Fred Baker, who like Dawson, went on to do work for Timberline Lodge’s initial construction. And you might notice the chimes on the wall. They were installed around 1939 and were refurbished as part of McMenamins’ renovation. They are played as a component of the old vaudeville theater organ that sits in an adjoining room.

The Chapel Pub is also home to McMenamins company headquarters on the second floor. And if you’re looking for some McMenamins T-Shirts or merchandise, visit the small gift shop onsite next to the reception area, open Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Chapel Pub allows leashed pets outside on the patio areas.
