BRENT WEINBACH'S STAND-UP COMEDY
Promoting his album THE NIGHT SHIFT
Doors at 7:30 p.m.; comedy starts at 8 p.m. | $10 per person | 21 & over

Brent Weinbach's stand-up comedy is weird. He does a lot of characters, he's physical, and his humor is absurd. Here are some other words to describe Weinbach: deadpan, silly, obscure, unconventional, smart, stupid, post-modern, grass roots, Berlin, 1980's, tennis, bike riding, Virgo, Rygar, etc. The list goes on and on. Brent began his comedy career in the underground San Francisco scene, but now tours all over the United States at clubs, colleges, festivals, theaters, music venues, living rooms, tennis, bike riding, Virgo, etc. He also has a t-shirt with his name and his face on it.

Brent was a winner and recipient of the Andy Kaufman Award at the HBO Comedy Festival, has toured with the Comedians of Comedy, appeared at the Coachella and Bumbershoot festivals as well as Just For Laughs in Montreal, and was the creator and star of the Super Deluxe web series "Weinbach in Wonderland."

Brent will be headlining one night in Portland as part of his Night Shift Tour, promoting the release the of his brand new album, "The Night Shift," out on Talent Moat Records. With special guests Mary Van Note and Andy Wood.

"Weinbach's comedy is about poaching characters from real life and inhabiting them that you forget who you're watching onstage." -East Bay Express

"...a borderline-offensive yukster for a post-multicultural era." -San Francisco Bay Guardian

"...obscenely, disturbingly brilliant." -L.A. Weekly

"weird, scary, hilarious" -Time Out NY

About "The Night Shift"...
A year in the making, this is not a traditional standup recording. Rather, it's more of a Joe Frank-influenced long-form radio-play comedy concept album — a 64-minute, interwoven mix of in-studio routines replete with Nintendo 8-bit inspired instrumental backing tracks, live club material recorded at The Purple Onion, bent phone messages, interstitial weirdness, and songs. Brent, a former professional piano player, composed and performed all his own instrumental backing tracks for this record and his three original piano/vocals numbers have a surprisingly sweet and melancholy Tin Pan Alley feel to them. It's safe to say there is not another contemporary comedy recording like this one.
