Poncho Luxurio, from Portland, lays down funky, bluesy, and jazzy jams, bringing to mind masters like The Meters, Galactic, Grey Boy All-Stars, Nina Simone, Rufus, and Stevie Wonder. Initially an all-instrumental act, they've expanded their sound with the recent addition of the sultry and talented vocalist Sally Kelner. She's also a baritone sax player! Together with tenor sax, bass, drums, and guitar, Poncho plays jazz, blues and funk with a distinct style.
Formed in 2005, they have played at some of Portland's top clubs like Jimmy Maks, Goodfoot Lounge, Ash St. Saloon, the Bitter End, Mississippi Pizza Pub, White Eagle Saloon, and the Buffalo Gap.
