In this OE Literary History Night, Eric A. Kimmel and Sybilla Cook will focus on the life of children’s author Beverly Cleary. A related slide show will present the places important in her life and in her books. The thrill for Portlanders is realizing that these famous books are not based on a generic town. They are set in a real place – Portland, Oregon! If you know the neighborhood, it is not hard to spot where the episodes in the stories took place.
The Oregon Encyclopedia and McMenamins are pleased to introduce a new series that highlights Oregon authors and poets, running from May through August 2014.
Upcoming Oregon Encyclopedia Literary History Night Series programs include:
June 2, 2014
“William Stafford: A Life of Poetry”

July 7, 2014
