About 6th Annual Zwickelmania
In honor of Zwickelmania, all Oregon McMenamins pubs will be offering a special: $7 Growler fill with a beer of your choice ($9 for high gravity ales).
Even if you can’t say “zwickelmania,” we know you’ll like the taste of it! Headed by the Oregon Brewers Guild, this one-day, free annual event is when Oregon breweries and brewpubs throw open their doors and invite you in to see the magic kettles and sample beers of all styles. From 11 a.m. ‘til 4 p.m. on February 15, participating locations will offer brewery tours, beer & food pairings and more. Oregon Brewers Guild will provide shuttle buses in Portland, Eugene and Bend to ferry visitors among multiple breweries. Admission to Zwickelmania events and the shuttle bus service are both free.
An expected 100 breweries, both big and small, are participating in 2014 with meet the brewer events, beer samples and sales on merchandise at the breweries. The shuttle buses will be running in the Bend, Eugene, Portland and Salem areas.
McMenamins’ Breweries participating are in each of these areas:
• Bend: Old St. Francis Brewery
• Eugene: High Street Brewery & Café
• Portland: Crystal Ballroom’s Crystal Brewery
• Portland: Concordia Brewery at Kennedy School
• Salem: Thompson Brewery & Public House
The breweries listed above will all have a special Zwickelmania stamp for your McMenamins Passport! Likewise, in honor of Zwickelmania, all Oregon McMenamins pubs will be offering a special: $7 Growler fill with a beer of your choice ($9 for high gravity ales).
Last year, more than 30,000 people toured 93 participating breweries statewide, and Oregon Craft Beer is expecting that number to increase in 2014 with Valentine’s Day starting off what will be a three-day President’s Day weekend.
“Out of nearly 200 breweries throughout the state, we’re shooting for 100 open breweries for Zwickelmania,“ says Oregon Brewers Guild Executive Director Brian Butenschoen. “So, there are many options in Oregon perfect for a romantic beery weekend getaway, whether you head to a city with a robust concentration of breweries or to a town with just one.”
