The 2014 U.S. Bank Portland Jazz Festival, presented by Alaska Airlines, runs through Sunday, March 2, at venues throughout Portland. It includes jazz education and outreach, along with a series of concerts featuring an eclectic mix of internationally recognized and local musicians playing a range of jazz styles.

PJCE Records is a grassroots record label documenting the wide array of original creative music from Portland, Oregon. We encourage collaboration and experimentation between musicians from Portland's thriving jazz and improvised music community and release albums from established and emerging ensembles. A unique brand of minimalist bebop from a generation-spanning trio. Sunjae's music is as informed by his studies of natural medicine and meditation as it is by his impressive bebop chops and knowledge of the jazz canon. Kin Trio's debut album "Breathe" was released on PJCE Records in March 2013 - the third release on the label.

New quartet by longtime collaborators Duval and Richards, featuring a notable Portland based rhythm section. This will be a CD release show for the groups debut album, "Indian Summer," available on PJCE Records February 15th - continuing the labels second year of monthly releases. Richards and Duval have many years of history playing music together in California and Boston, but this is their first studio album of original jazz explorations. Graham received a double major from Berklee College of music in film scoring and jazz composition and a masters in jazz piano performance from North Texas and currently lives in the Bay Area.

Barra's debut album was released to positive reviews on August 15th on PJCE Records. He has assembled a group including New York City transplant and trumpet virtuoso Tom Barber as well as several younger players he has worked with in the Alan Jones Academy of Music and in his ongoing band, "Wishermen." Barra's compositions blend indie rock and jazz sensitivities, tempered by his background in classical flute and folk rock.
PDX Jazz, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit cultural arts organization founded in 2003 in partnership with Travel Portland, produces the annual Portland Jazz Festival. The organization’s mission is to inspire, educate and develop future jazz audiences for generations to come. The Portland Jazz Festival is a multi-venue series of jazz events presented each February within Portland, Oregon. Nationally and regionally supported as a cultural tourism initiative in celebration of Black History Month, Portland Jazz Festival is dedicated to preserving America’s indigenous art form by presenting internationally recognized jazz masters alongside local jazz musicians. A series of jazz education and outreach programs that extend into Portland’s schools and neighborhoods is at the heart of the annual event.
