About Mark Ransom &
From "Brewgrass" to "Ohio Surf Rock," Bend-based songwriter Mark Ransom creates and performs music with an original style: acoustic groove-rock in thrall to the mystery of jazz. Joni Mitchell, '70s Funk, The Allman Brothers Band, Paul Simon and the Grateful Dead can also be counted among its influences.
Ransom is a versatile acoustic performer and storyteller. The lyrical depth of his work floats melodically over familiar rhythms -- complementing overtones beyond the pop-song. Song themes visit snowy seclusion, real friends and the experience of human emotion.
About The MostestThe Mostest is a dynamic collective of improvisational musicians based in Bend, Oregon. The group is arranged and produced by bassist Patrick Pearsall and singer-songwriter/guitarist Mark Ransom. On stage and in the studio The Mostest takes on many forms and enlists the talent of many different players--including drummer Lindsey Elias (Empty Space Orchestra/Eric Tollefson Band) and guitarist Tim Schroeder (Bond Brothers, Eric Tollefson Band). The most recent incarnation of the band welcomes the funk-synth expressions of singer/songwriter/keyboardist Brad Jones. The new sound is bouncy, danceable and big; marked with Allmanesque rhythm grooves and soaring melody lines. www.themostest.net
