It seems like over the past few years, when spring rolls in, I find myself back out at
Edgefield. It is a good time of year to work on odds and ends of art projects to help get the property spruced up for the summer, the busiest time of year.
Last week I spent time in room 201. The room had been repainted and in doing so the border that was there was covered up. Because of that, the room needed a new border design and a decorative element over the bed.
I really enjoy doing decorative work. It may not seem like the most exciting artwork that I get to do for McMenamins, but I find it to be very relaxing and satisfying. Once I have designed the border and figured out the colors, all I have to do is put on my headphones and paint, paint, paint! It can be hard work, but I like it!
Painting a border is satisfying because I can see my progress (sometimes I can't when I am doing a regular painting!) I also feel good about doing my part in making a room unique and hopefully a little more beautiful and in turn, contribute to the special place that is Edgefield.
If you stay in 201, I hope you enjoy the border!!

I LOOOOOOOVVVVVVEEEEEEE Edgefield. Made reservations in February for July and had to make them for Sunday and Monday night... but am okay with that. We try to go at least twice a year. Once with the girls & once with our hubbies. Thanx for all that all of you at McMennamins do.
