WHERE ON ANY NIGHT, ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN!!

[Latest News]

Crystal Jester Logo products

Any evening at the historic Crystal Ballroom is literally a multi-tiered experience. The menu above and the links at left will guide you through the steady flow of music, food, beverages and fun raging on the Crystal's three floors and in the subterranean lair of the Annex just half a block away. Take a moment and bookmark this page, so you can keep up with all the offerings at Portland's premier showroom.

We at the Crystal, Lola's, Ringlers and the Annex are delighted to host a steady stream of unbeatable shows, but we also take great pride in experimenting with new ideas, new ways to put on an event, and new types of entertainment. Visit this page often to keep up with what's up!

During the month of May, you can drop off any unwanted musical instruments at any McMenamins to donate to the Ethos Music Center. Instruments will be reconditioned and then given to children enrolled in Ethos for musical education. Ethos is a non-profit program that is open to all children of any income level.

Please note! Both the Crystal Ballroom and Lola's Room specialize in open-floor shows with a very limited amount of seats. The rare seated events will be clearly denoted as such, within the event description on our schedule page.

Pickathon

McMenamins will again be serving up the cold ales at this year's Pickathon, one of the finest roots and Americana festivals in the Northwest. Taking place on August 4 & 5, Pickathon's outdoor setting is an ideal way to enjoy music from national and regional artists and of course, fine hand-crafted ales from Oregon! See you there.

Congratulations to Crystal Ballroom brewers Craig Gulla and Jeff Cooley, who beat out eight other contenders for the vaunted Barley Cup at Thompsons Pub in Salem. Their "Hopicidal Ale," a beautiful deep golden colored ale with a delightfully citrusy aroma, was given first place by Salem's Capitol Brewers Homebrew Club, and will go on to represent McMenamins at the Holiday Ale Festival in Portland.

As we near the holiday season, consider giving the keys to the Kingdom with a McMenamins gift card. Redeemable for Crystal Ballroom tickets, this is the perfect option for any fan of live music. The Crystal hosts just about every type of music, so you don't have to worry about getting it right ... just leave it up to us! And since the card is also good for other McMenamins products and services at all of our locations, how can you go wrong?

Graceful aging

We have fun looking at this then-and-now image on our History page, and thought we'd share it...

June 27, 2005

The Crystal Ballroom has completely overhauled its sound system, from the microphones to the speakers. Twice the speakers, each with twice the power. Eight subs under the stage instead of four. EV speakers, Soundcraft mixing boards, triple the amplifiers, digital controls, new mezzanine delay speakers... the works. The result? No more dead spots, and improved articulation and tonal quality throughout the entire room. (In other words, the rooms rocks that much harder.)

The Crystal's online event calendar now includes events from Lola's Room along with the actual Ballroom shows. Our little second-floor venue is such a busy concert venue and dance club, we'd hate people to miss out on what's happening right below the Crystal. Remember to also check out the Ringlers Pub and Annex schedules, as there's almost always something going on there as well.

Party on air!

Although we're best known as a concert setting, our festive environs are also a popular location for private events. From small gatherings of a dozen or less in the Annex to huge Crystal Ballroom events for over a thousand people, we play host to holiday parties, weddings, receptions, birthdays, religious celebrations, corporate bashes, convention "fun nights," political gatherings, anniversaries (one of which featured the one and only James Brown) and good old-fashioned Parties-For-No-Apparent-Reason. The "Group Sales" menu item at left provides information about everything you need to know about renting the Crystal Ballroom, including a spiffy new slideshow on the Event Spaces page introducing you to the room's charms. (Similar information is available on the Group Sales pages for Lola's Room, Ringlers Pub and the Annex.)
