Simcoe Solo: This month we're featuring Simcoe hops. *Each month the Old Church Brewery will release a single hopped pale ale to best showcase that particular hop. Each batch is brewed with the same malt bill and to the same specifications, only the hops change. Think of it as a fun way to calibrate your palate and learn to identify your favorite hops all while drinking some outstanding beer!
Dry-Hopped Sunflower IPA (22oz Bottles For Here or To Go)
This extremely limited release is just one more way McMenamins is celebrating Oregon Craft Beer Month. We've revamped our classic IPA using some of the newest and most desirable hop varieties available in the Northwest. To get maximum flavor and aromatic contribution from those hops, we've jammed a ton of them in at the end of the brewing process and dry-hopped the finished product to create a truly excellent Northwest IPA with huge citrus, pine, and tropical fruit hop character that will satisfy any hophead. To top it all off, we've dry-hopped this year's batch with Bullion hops, which were a staple of the original Sunflower recipe.

The first thing you'll notice about Copper Moon is the coppery orange luminescence radiating out of the pint glass. This comes from the special combination of three different Organic malts in every batch. Those Organic malts also impart a flavorsome yet summery smooth sweetness that quenches your thirst at the same time as tantalizing your taste buds. The upfront hop bitterness of Copper Moon is relatively low, complementing the malts nicely without being overpowering. The hop flavor and aroma are another matter, as the Centennial and Sterling hops used in the latter stages of each batch intermingle delightfully to generate a dazzling citrusy, flowery and slightly spicy olfactory experience. All these things blend into a refreshing, flavorful and organic Summer Pale Ale.

Hard Cider & Perry
Edgefield Hard Apple Cider
Produced in 3,500 gallon batches 6 or 7 times per year.
Slight variation in batches, but cider is ~ 6.8% abv
The Edgefield Winery has been producing hard cider since 1992. Relying on the bounty that the Columbia Gorge offers us, we work with a local cider house that sources apples from cold storage to obtain fresh pressed apple juice throughout the year. The apples pressed off for our cider are primarily a blend of Red Delicious, Golden Delicious (added for color), Granny Smith (for acidity), and Fuji, Galas, and Honey Crisp (to increase sweetness).
The freshly pressed juice arrives at the Edgefield Winery, where it is pumped into temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Employing a cool fermentation to maintain as much of the fresh apple aromas as possible, we ferment the cider until it is completely dry. A bit of fresh-pressed apple juice is then blended back into the hard cider for some sweetness and to balance the acidity. We keg the cider with some CO2 spritz, and ship it off to all of our locations to enjoy!
Edgefield Black Cherry Cider
6.7 % abv. Lightly carbonated. Always gluten-free
The apples pressed off for fermentation were a blend of Red Delicious, Golden Delicious (added for color), Granny Smith (for acidity), and Fuji, Galas, and Honey Crisp (to increase sweetness). The fermented hard cider is then enfused or finished with Black Cherry juice.
Edgefield Ciders are available on draft at all McMenamins locations and also sold in growlers to-go for home enjoyment. Recently, we have been able to increase our production and kegging capacity to be able to offer them to home draft customers by the 5gal Sanke keg. Please call the winery at 503.492.5467 for more information regarding dock sales of kegged cider.
