Sleepy Hollow Nut Brown
It’s the time of year to start savoring the potion of your choice to warm the bones and soothe the soul. And one can’t think of anything better than the McMenamins classic seasonal brew, Sleepy Hollow Nut Brown. This longtime favorite has a chestnut color and medium body that will cast an otherworldly spell over you. The complex malt character, well balanced with Chinook and US Golding hops, will have you walking in a continual reverie. Legend has it that Ichabod Crane downed a few Nut Brown Ales listening to local ghost tales and scary legends at the Van Tassel merry-making party before his fateful trip home. Be watchful and clear-headed on your way home lest you begin to grow fanciful, see shapes and shadows in the night and hear things in the howling wind. It may just be your imagination running away with you or it very well may be the Headless Horseman on his fire-breathing black stallion following you!
ABV: 5.03 IBU: 15 OG: 1.050
Buzz Words: Well-balanced, nutty, fanciful
This an American style IPA. Hopped with Nugget and Ultra it has a spicy flavor and aroma. It is slightly darker and has more body than your normal IPA. I hope it adds to your summer fun.
ABV: 5.93 IBU: 85 OG: 1.057
Buzz Words: Moderately Bitter, Crisp, and Rebellious
A classic American Wheat ale, not as yeasty as the more common Hefewiezen. A barley to wheat ratio of 60/40 make this beer a challenge to brew. Gluten makes wheat great for bread, however for beer it is difficult to not stick the mash.
Malts: 2 Row, Munich, Wheat, and Roast.
Hops: Centennial, two adds of Tettnanger
OG: 1.040 TG : 1.007 : ABV: 4.15 IBU: 12 SRM: 7
Buzz Words: Refreshing, golden, malty
DBL IPA – Wade’s Choice
This is a so-called double IPA. First was hopped with Nugget hops. Flavored with Perle and finished with 3 adds of Chinooks. Dry hopped with Falconers Flight pellets. This is a beer for serious hop heads. Needless to say our Fearless Leader picked this beer style. Prost!
Malts: Premium Two-Row, Heidelberg malt, Midnight Wheat, and Crystal 40L
Hops: Nugget, Perle, and Chinook
OG: 1.077 TG: 1.015 ABV: 8.00 IBU: 100+ SRM: 8
Buzz Words: Extremely Bitter, Strong, and Rebellious
This Porter is a kinder gentler beer than the more aggressive Terminator Stout. The Midnight Wheat malt is dehusked before it is roasted. This removes the astringent bitterness, and leaves in the dark color and sweet flavor. I named this brew after a good friend of 35 years. Porter is his favorite beer, so cheers Glenn.
OG: 1.054 ABV: 5.03 IBU: 29
Buzz Words: Roasted, Sweet, Chocolatey
This golden-hued ale uses Cascade hops in modest amounts to create a subtle flavor and bitterness. It is named after SW Nebraska Street, the street that the Fulton Pub and Brewery is located, and where it was first brewed. ABV: 4.52 IBU: 20
Buzz Words: Golden, Subtle, Refreshing
Ballena Stout (Buy-Yeen-Na)
This is a Russian Imperial Stout. Ballena means “whale” in Spanish. 42-ounce bottles of Pacifico in Baja are called Ballenas. I consumed several these bottles while watching whales in B.C.S. My wife suggested I name a brew after these magnificent beings. Sounded like a good idea to me. A big beer like an Imperial Stout seemed to fit. Bad roads bring good people was what she said to me.
Malts:, Superior Pilsner, Heidelberg Pils, Rye, and Crystal Munich 40L, C-75, C-135/165, Chocolate, Roast, and Midnight Wheat
Hops: Nugget and Perle
OG: 1.082 TG: 1.020 ABV: 8.26 IBU: 65 SRM: 58
Buzz words: Roastey, Full-Bodied and Strong
On Nitro Tap:
Truck 2 Stout
A tip of the Monroe brewery chapeau, to some of our unsung heroes of the kingdom. You probably have seen our trucks on the roads around the region. The drivers battle heat and cold and sometimes rainy weather conditions year round. They supply all the pubs with beer, wine, coffee, and teas. Cheers Derrick
Malts: Superior Pilsner, Pale malt, C-135/165, Flaked Barley, Midnight Wheat, Black Barley, and Chocolate
Hops: Nugget and Goldings
OG: 1.057 TG: 1.016 ABV: 5.55 IBU:30 SRM: 40
Buzz words: Chocolate, Roasty, Steady
This Cascadian dark ale is made with a small addition of wheat that is dehusked and then roasted. This gives the dark color with a subtle roast flavor, it is strong, dark, and hoppy. The menace can be a puppy that eats your shoes or they could drive a Subaru. Here is to you CHIP! ABV: 4.77 IBU: 75
Buzz Words: Strong, Dark, Hoppy
A classic Northwest pale ale, this rich chestnut colored gem is a model of harmony between hops and malted barley. Hammerhead's signature Cascade hop nose and intense hopped flavor blend nicely with the caramel tones from the crystal malt. This beer has a vocal following. To run out is an unforgivable sin.
ABV: 5.93 IBU: 44 OG: 1.056
Buzz Words: Hoppy, Amber, Carmel
Black as the darkest night, rich as the most decadent dessert, Terminator is for the true stout lover. This is a full bodied and flavor packed ale which draws its robust complexity from kiln-baked specialty grains. Look for a wide array of toasted, chocolate, nutty and coffee-like flavors in every pint! The devoted swear by it, and it remains one of our top selling ales year after year.
ABV: 6.45 IBU: 30 OG: 1.065
Buzz Words: Roasty, Black, Coffee
One of our most popular standards, we still make Ruby with the same aims we had when brewing the first batch back in March 1986: To create an ale light, crisp and refreshingly fruity. Great Western Premium 2-row and 42 pounds of Oregon-grown and processed raspberry puree is used to craft every colorful batch. It’s simple but delicious. Taste the original!
ABV: 4.39 OG: 1.039
Buzz Words: Raspberry, light, refreshing
Edgefield Hard Apple Cider
Locally grown apples are juiced and fermented into a light, crisp and refreshing hard cider.
Edgefield Spiced Hard Cider
A subtle addition of winter spices rounds out this year's journey into the evolving world of McMenamins seasonal ciders. A harmonious infusion of dried sweet orange peel, whole vanilla beans, cloves, allspice, cinnamon, nutmeg, fresh lemon zest, and a hint of ginger brings a seasonal flair to a base of freshly fermented apple juice.
