Ale & Cider On Tap
Red Riser IRA
To celebrate the late winter months, McMenamins brewers have hand-crafted a delightful India Red Ale. At the time of year when it can be cold and bleak outside, Red Riser IRA peeks over the mountain tops to bring warmth and remind us that Spring is just around the corner. While waiting for Spring to arrive, Red Riser IRA will warm your soul and invigorate your taste buds. Made from the finest malted barley, along with some rye malt, this red giant is generously hopped with a heavenly blend of aromatic hop varieties. The glorious garnet hue illuminates the way to a wonderfully complex blend of malt flavors. The citrusy floral hop notes hit the nose in a prophetic burst of awareness that something wonderful is to follow. And it does. So enjoy the season and warm up with a pint of Red Riser IRA while you can.

Shoulder The Sky Porter
In A.E. Housman’s words:
The troubles of our proud and angry dust
Are from eternity, and shall not fail.
Bear them we can, and if we can we must.
Shoulder the sky, my lad, and drink your ale.
Dark and plenty flavorful it’s just right for end-of-the-day ruminations, contemplations, or relaxation. Dwell on the roasted malt flavors, the subtle spice from the crystal rye, and the earthy, noble hop contribution. Maybe you can pretend you’re an 18th century laborer – arguably the era of Porter’s birth as a style – brooding with your chum at a local pub where you’re finding solace in good company and a pint.
Malts: Pale Malt, Wheat, Crystal Rye 80L, Brown Malt, Roasted Barley, Black Malt, Chocolate Malt
Hops: Horizon, Tettnanger
OG: 1.059 TG: 1.016 ABV: 5.55 IBU: 35 SRM: 33
An overabundance of less than noble American hop varieties like Cascade, Nugget, Amarillo, and Simcoe (not to mention the blast of dry hopping from the Ahtanum hops) leaves you with nothing less than a righteous American IPA. A blend of CaraVienna and CaraMunich, Wheat and Flaked Wheat, 2-Row and Flaked Barley gives the brew some malt legs to stand on, but trust your eyes this beer reads IPA all the way through. Fruity citrus with floral notes coming in strong in both aroma and flavor.
Malts: 2-Row, Pale Malt, Flaked Barley, Wheat, Flaked Wheat, CaraVienna 20L, Caramunich 40L,
Hops: Horizon, Simcoe, Amarillo, Nugget, Cascade, Ahtanum (dry)
OG: 1.056 TG: 1.009 ABV: 6.19 IBU: 65 SRM: 6
Ooh La La Belgian Red Ale
A Belgian Red Ale rested on medium toasted French oak spirals for added complexity and vibrance to an already loud brew. Unlike American yeasts this ale gains the most of its poignant expression from the Belgian yeast strain selected for fermentation. Enjoy subtle notes of oak and vanilla bolstering a beer that is already loaded with spice, clove, dark fruit, and banana flavors. This is a beer with a lot to explore in every drink and every pint. Don’t miss out. Pass it among present company and watch it polarize every palate.
Malts: Pale Malt, Munich, CaraVienna, CaraMunich, Midnight Wheat, Aromatic Malt, Flaked Wheat Extra: Medium toasted French oak spirals
Hops: Santiam, Chinook, Horizon
OG: 1.074 TG: 1.016 ABV: 7.5 IBU: 33 SRM: 19
The Pale King
A brew like David and Goliath that champions a belief in victory of the small over the large. In a time when double and imperial IPAs are hammering us over the head with hops upon hops upon hops it’s nice to be a hophead and still enjoy a brew that is simultaneously hop-satiable and light enough to avoid knocking you out. If you note that citrus and floral aroma, the even citrusier flavors, and that lovely, light bitter bite on the finish I’m happy to tell you that’s exactly what I found too. Enjoy it a couple of times over.
Malts: Pale Malt, White Wheat, Rolled Oats, Flaked Barley, Dextrapils, Crystal 15L, Caramunich
Hops: Chinook, Cascade, Galena, Crystal, Golding, Dry hopped with Cascade and Citrus
OG: 1.046 TG: 1.012 ABV: 4.39 IBU: 45 SRM: 6
Blonded By The Light Blonde Ale
Although I’ve never known a blonde that was subtle we’ve all got to start somewhere. Try this nuanced, inoffensive ale to quench your brew-thirst. Slightly orange in hue you’d think this beer spent too much time at the tanning salon. With a modest grain-bill and only the smallest addition of hops you can count on this beer to deliver a great taste without burdening your palate with bitterness or heavy malt flavors.
Malts: Pilsen, Caravienna, Wheat, Carapils
Hops: Chinook, Tettnanger
OG: 1.050 TG: 1.009 ABV: 5.29 IBU: 12 SRM: 5
À Votre Santé Belgian Ale
The same yeast that makes the world famous Chimay Belgian Ales went into this American-Belgian delight; and, it does all the talking. While the incredibly busy grain bill looks like it would dominate the flavor profile it ends up merely complimenting the flavors introduced by the yeast. Huge and aromatic you will no doubt catch the spice and fruit flavors that move forward before the quieter less pronounced notes of the Santiam and Horizon hops used to both bitter and flavor this cross-continental beer. Though I am far less pious than any Belgian monk I still feel blessed to have the opportunity to give this beer to you. A popular toast to your health in Belgium and in France, “À Votre Santé!”
Malts: Pale Malt, Munich, CaraVienna, CaraMunich, Midnight Wheat, Aromatic Malt, Flaked Barley, Flaked Wheat
Hops: Santiam, Chinook, Horizon
OG: 1.074 TG: 1.016 ABV: 7.48 IBU: 34 SRM: 19
One of our most popular standards, we still make Ruby with the same aims we had when brewing the first batch back in March 1986: To create an ale light, crisp and refreshingly fruity. Great Western Premium 2-row and 42 pounds of Oregon-grown and processed raspberry puree is used to craft every colorful batch. Simple but delicious. Taste the original!
Malts: Premium 2-row Malt
OG: 1.039 TG: 1.005 ABV: 4.3
Black as the darkest night, rich as the most decadent dessert, Terminator is for the true stout lover. This is a full bodied and flavor packed ale which draws its robust complexity from kiln-baked specialty grains. Look for a wide array of toasted, chocolate, nutty and coffee-like flavors in every pint! The devoted swear by it, and it remains one of our top selling ales year after year.
Malts: Premium 2-row Malt, Munich Malt, 40L Crystal, and Black Barley
Hops: Chinook and Cascade
OG: 1.065 TG: 1.015 ABV: 6.45 IBU: 30 SRM: 35
A classic Northwest pale ale and McMenamins top selling beer. This rich chestnut colored gem is a model of harmony between hops and malted barley. Hammerhead's signature Cascade hop nose and intense hopped flavor blend nicely with the caramel tones from the crystal malt. This beer has a vocal following. To run out is an unforgivable sin.
Malts: Premium 2-row Malt and 75L Crystal Malt
OG: 1.056 TG 1.010 ABV: 5.93 IBU: 44 SRM: 11
Honey Golding Wheat
A pinch of Honey Malt gives this classic wheat a nuance of sweetness reminiscent of honey and a slightly darker color. A final, healthy addition of U.S Goldings hops in the boil contribute a bigger finishing flavor on the palate. Still light and refreshing don’t let these minor additions to an otherwise simple recipe fool you. This is a great lunchtime beer. Dare to forego the lemon and enjoy it as is.
Malts: 2-Row, White Wheat Malt, Honey Malt
Hops: U.S. Golding, Chinook
OG: 1.047 TG: 1.007 ABV: 5.17 IBU: 12 SRM: 5
Edgefield Spiced Hard Cider
A subtle addition of winter spices rounds out this years journey into the evolving world of McMenamins seasonal ciders. A harmonious addition of fresh Valencia orange zest, dried orange peel, whole vanilla beans, nutmeg and gently crushed allspice are all balanced above a base of freshly fermented apple juice.
Enjoy a pint of McMenamins' finest!
