Ale & Cider On Tap

Kris Kringle AleKris Kringle
Just in time for the holidays, the busy-as-elves McMenamins brewers have created another wonderful gift for your taste buds this holiday season. The 2014 version of Kris Kringle is a hearty and robust ale with a big and bold malt complexity as well as an intense and flavorful hop profile. This “winter warmer” highlights the rich, toasty, aromatic and chocolaty malt flavors as its very sturdy foundation. Generous amounts of five different hop varieties were added in five different additions, which delivers a magnificent and massive hop assault. McMenamins brewers hope you enjoy this years’ version of our old Holiday favorite, Kris Kringle. Happy Holidays and a Wonderful New Year!

Purple Haze
Made with boysenberries instead of the raspberry puree this light, crisp, and refreshingly fruity ale is slightly more tart and fuller bodied than our ruby recipe. This is a pub favorite. Seriously, people go crazy when we put this on tap.
Malts: Premium Two Row
Hops: Horizon
Fruit: Boysenberries
OG: 1.040  TG: 1.006  ABV: 4.39  SRM: 3

Screaming Eagle American Wheat Ale
Along with apple pie, baseball, and ranch dressing fewer things are more American than a good, light, clean American Wheat Ale. Right off you’ve got that traditional haze and beautiful white head. Then you can expect the slightest hint of malt sweetness, and you’ll probably notice that it’s lightly bittered and nicely finished with mellow U.S. Goldings for those classic citrus notes. All told the beer is pretty mild so you’d better have a couple to effectively tease out all of its nuances. Cheers!
Malts: White Wheat, 2-Row, Munich, Crystal Wheat
Hops: U.S. Golding
OG: 1.050  TG: 1.009  ABV: 5.29  IBU: 26  SRM: 6

Fool’s Golding IPA
Sure, not all that glitters is gold. But, a sparkling, deliciously hoppy IPA is the next best thing. A very mild grain bill of Crystal and Pale malts makes for a hop-centric brew in this American IPA. Horizon hops bust out a clean, fine bitterness, and the Cascades help to layer that bitter finish. The Crystal and Chinook hops usher in flavors of citrus and fruit, but the bread winner in this brew is U.S. Goldings contributing a beautiful floral flourish. Raise your glass to the light for all to admire. You’ve struck Golding.
Malts: Pale Malt, Crystal 15L, Crystal 75L
Hops: U.S. Golding, Cascade, Crystal, Chinook, Horizon
OG: 1.056  TG: 1.011  ABV: 5.86  IBU: 59  SRM: 5

The Double Dougie DIPA
If you’ve been to the Highland, and you haven’t met our friend Doug allow me to introduce him. Doug is our local Double IPA fanatic. For him (and rightfully so) there’s nothing in this world that tastes better than a brew that threatens to out-hop all other hoppy beers. So we crammed our tiny boiler kettle with 25 pounds of hops throughout the brewing process, and then we dry hopped the darned thing for good measure. Afterward we slapped a deserving title on it. What you get is a delightfully intense bitterness with a nose of pine and grapefruit citrus. As those aromas translate into similar flavors you’ll probably pick up some lovely floral notes as well. This brew brings a whole new meaning to teaching you how to Dougie.
Malts: Pale Malt, Crystal 15L, Crystal Wheat 40L, Munich, Wheat
Hops: Nugget, Centennial, Cascade, Crystal
Dry Hop: Zythos
OG: 1.070 TG 1.013  ABV: 7.35  IBU: 74  SRM: 74

On Regular & Nitro Tap:
The Final Count Brown Ale
It’s Fall season and everywhere the ales are getting bigger, bolder, darker, and better suited for cold weather and overcast skies. We make no exceptions out here at the Highland. Enjoy a malt forward Brown Ale that serves up notes of bready, biscuity goodness, dates, toffee, and some good old fashioned American hopping. A punny name plucked from a great song written by a pack of Swedes is just the tip of the iceberg. Here’s a Swedish cheers to the creators of the song that inspired the name for an epic seasonal brew: skål!
Malts: Marris Otter, Torrified Wheat, Crystal 75L, Brown Malt, Pale Chocolate, Midnight Wheat
Hops: U.S. Golding, Crystal, Cascade
OG: 1.061  TG: 1.013  ABV: 6.19  IBU: 30  SRM: 21

Ruby Ale

Ruby
One of our most popular standards, we still make Ruby with the same aims we had when brewing the first batch back in March 1986: To create an ale light, crisp and refreshingly fruity. Great Western Premium 2-row and 42 pounds of Oregon-grown and processed raspberry puree is used to craft every colorful batch. Simple but delicious. Taste the original!
Malts: Premium 2-row Malt
Hops: Vary
Fruit: Raspberries
OG: 1.039  TG: 1.005  ABV: 4.3

Terminator Stout
Black as the darkest night, rich as the most decadent dessert, Terminator is for the true stout lover. This is a full bodied and flavor packed ale which draws its robust complexity from kiln-baked specialty grains. Look for a wide array of toasted, chocolate, nutty and coffee-like flavors in every pint! The devoted swear by it, and it remains one of our top selling ales year after year.
Malts: Premium 2-row Malt, Munich Malt, 40L Crystal, and Black Barley
Hops: Chinook and Cascade
OG: 1.065  TG: 1.015  ABV: 6.45  IBU: 30  SRM: 35

Hammerhead
A classic Northwest pale ale and McMenamins top selling beer. This rich chestnut colored gem is a model of harmony between hops and malted barley. Hammerhead's signature Cascade hop nose and intense hopped flavor blend nicely with the caramel tones from the crystal malt. This beer has a vocal following. To run out is an unforgivable sin.
Malts: Premium 2-row Malt and 75L Crystal Malt
Hops: Cascade
OG: 1.056 TG 1.010  ABV: 5.93  IBU: 44  SRM: 11

Edgefield Spiced Hard Cider
A subtle addition of winter spices rounds out this years journey into the evolving world of McMenamins seasonal ciders. A harmonious infusion of dried sweet orange peel, whole vanilla beans, cloves, allspice, cinnamon, nutmeg, fresh lemon zest, and a hint of ginger brings a seasonal flair to a base of freshly fermented apple juice.  ABV: 6.8%
