Barleycorn Cream Ale (nitro) - Sometimes it's nice to have a little help from your friends. I learned everything I know about brewing from the last three brewers at the John Barleycorn, and the current brewer, Tim Proctor, let me use this smooth, tasty recipe. All the flakes of barley and corn make this beer ridiculously creamy and perfect for the nitro tap. So, next time you find yourself at the JBC, tell em' I sent you, and ask about the fastest cook in the west, the D-train.

US Golding and Delta

Black Widow Porter - Originally created at the Thompson Brewery over 20 years ago on October 15, 1991 and made once a year by all Thompson Brewers to come after that, Black Widow has become an expected and welcome Halloween treat at the Thompson Public House in Salem.  This year, however, Black Widow's web has enveloped the entire company, as every McMenamins brewery made a batch this year.  Each deep-black goblet of Black Widow is packed full of the robust notes afforded by generous amounts of black and roast malts and further spirited with ethereal wisps of caramel and licorice.  Both substantial and sublime, this elixir is sure to slake the most fiendish of thirsts.  Open up a creaking pub door, find a seat with friends and family and nourish your inner ghoul with a brew steeped in tradition and mystery.  A good howl at the Cheshire moon couldn't hurt, either.

Nugget and Sterling

Sleepy Hollow Nut Brown - It's the time of year to start savoring the potion of your choice to warm the bones and soothe the soul.  And one can't think of anything better than the McMenamins classic seasonal brew, Sleepy Hollow Nut Brown.  This longtime favorite has a chestnut color and medium body that will cast an otherworldly spell over you.  The complex malt character, well balanced with Chinook and US Golding hops, will have you walking in a continual reverie.  Legend has it that Ichabod Crane downed a few Nut Brown Ales listening to local ghost tales and scary legends at the Van Tassel merry-making party before his fateful trip home.  Be watchful and clear-headed on your way home lest you begin to grow fanciful, see shapes and shadows in the night and hear things in the howling wind.  It may just be your imagination running away with you or it very well may be the Headless Horseman on his fire-breathing black stallion following you!
