On Thursday, May 11, 1950, at a farmhouse just outside of McMinnville, Ore., Evelyn Trent went out to feed her chickens and rabbits behind the farmhouse where she and her husband Paul lived. While attending to her chores, Evelyn was astonished to see a large, metallic looking, disc-shaped object hovering silently in the sky. After a little scrambling as they looked for their trusty Kodak camera, they both ran back outside. Paul Trent clicked off two snapshots. These photos are still considered to be some of the most credible images of UFOs to date.
In honor of the Trents and their sighting, McMenamins began the annual UFO Festival which features both serious and fun for believers and skeptics alike.

2010 Festival Speakers
James Clarkson, a military policeman and Washington police/criminal investigator now known as the "UFO Cop." His presentation will be about June Crain, an employee at Wright Patterson Air Force Base who handled some of the pieces from Roswell and had heard of at least three other UFO crash retrievals. Hear how her story corroborates the UFO cover-ups by the government (learn more at clarksonufo.com). The Crain story has also been featured on the SyFy Channel's "The Secret."
Colin Andrews, a preeminent crop circles expert and recent expat from the United Kingdom to the United States. Andrews was an advisor for Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher's cabinet on the largest crop circle surveillance project, codenamed "Operation Blackbird." See Andrews' website at colinandrews.net.
Travis Walton, an abductee upon whom the book and film "Fire in the Sky" were based. In 1975, Walton, in full view of six co-workers, was hit with a beam from a hovering UFO in the Apache-Sitgreaves Forest in Arizona. He was missing for five full days, despite a massive search for him. After being dropped off on a highway in a small town, it was discovered that he had been taken aboard an alien craft.
