Max's Lanson ESB
Max Zimmerman was a famous brewmaster. He worked for Blatz Brewing in the Midwest as well as Blitz-Weinhard here in Portland. After he passed away, his son John, a Hillsdale regular, invited Mike and Brian to his father’s estate sale. In addition to procuring what would become the Hillsdale’s original mash tun and brew kettle, they found an unopened case of 1945 Lanson Champagne. Can you imagine? 1945 was possibly the finest vintage of the century in France. It was the end of the war. It was French Independence. And the wine was in great condition but for two bottles. For ten years straight this Champagne was the foundation ingredient of our Barley Mill Pub Anniversary Ale. The first bottle inspired the name of the 1986 anniversary ale, Longevity. The last bottle went into the batch of 1995, fifty years after the end of the war. This year, we kicked off the annual Barley Mill Brew lunch by uncorking another bottle of Lanson (although not a 1945 vintage!) and toasted Max and his famous Champagne. Cheers, Max!

Copper Moon has a bit more malt quality and hop character than most other summer seasonals, giving rise to a refreshing, flavorful beer style that we like to identify as a Summer Pale Ale. The Cascadian Dark Ale Is A Northwest Original. Dark And Hoppy Without The Roasted Coffee And Chocolate Flavors You Find In Stouts And Porters The CDA Blazes New Trails For IPA Lovers. White Van Wheat
This Belgian style wheat beer was brewed with traditional malts and yeast which gives it a light color and crisp, slightly fruity finish. Crushed coriander seeds and dried bitter orange peel were added late in the boil to compliment the yeast. Cascade and Centennial hops give the beer some Northwest flavor and Tettnanger hops finish with a continental aroma. It may take a few sips to taste it all.

Auspicious skies and open patios signal winter’s end, celebrate the growing light with this crisp and clean tasting IPA. Simcoe hops give off mild citrus flavors and a balanced bitter finish while the Caramel-Vienna malt gives a golden glow and a hint of sweetness. Take heed and enjoy.

This full-flavored Stout was brewed with Roasted Barley, Chocolate, and Crystal malts using a strong base of English Maris Otter. Rye malt was added to give some spice, Oat Flakes for texture and each keg has an American Oak spiral soaked in Bourbon to give it that barrel aged taste. Pouring from the nitro tap this Stout is silky smooth and complex warming you inside like kind words or the sensation of falling. Big taste and an alcohol content of 7% enjoy judiciously.

A classic Northwest pale ale and McMenamins top selling beer. This rich chestnut colored gem is a model of harmony between hops and malted barley. Hammerhead's signature Cascade hop nose and intense hopped flavor blend nicely with the caramel tones from the crystal malt. This beer has a vocal following. To run out is an unforgivable sin.

Black as the darkest night, rich as the most decadent dessert, Terminator is for the true stout lover. This is a full bodied and flavor packed ale which draws its robust complexity from kiln-baked specialty grains. Look for a wide array of toasted, chocolate, nutty and coffee-like flavors in every pint! The devoted swear by it, and it remains one of our top selling ales year after year.

One of our most popular standards, we still make Ruby with the same aims we had when brewing the first batch back in March 1986: To create an ale light, crisp and refreshingly fruity. Great Western Premium 2-row and 42 pounds of Oregon-grown and processed raspberry puree is used to craft every colorful batch. Simple but delicious. Taste the original!

This dry cherry cider combines black cherries with red delicious, golden delicious, granny smith, fuji apples, gala, and honey crisp apples to make this a good balance of of apples and cherries.
