Meet Your Maker
Northern Washington Brewery Manager
McMenamins Queen Anne
In brewing, there are a hundred ways to do it right and only a couple of ways to do it wrong. Don't do it wrong.
Brian Lawrence has quenched the thirst of Seattle beer drinkers since 2004. As a brewer and assistant manager, he brews at McMenamins Roy Street location, and also orchestrates brewing and distribution in our northern operations. When not knee-deep in spent hops, he enjoys camping, concerts, and cheering the Mariners and Nebraska football.
This mindset of doing brewing right has guided Brian's work. Porters and stouts entertain him the most, and he enjoys extracting new flavors with a variety of malts. His proudest brewing achievement, Paddlebender Wheatwine, is a collaborative 16-hour, labor-of-love brew. His personal keg has been aging for five years and is only getting better with time.
What inspires Brian to brew? The astonishment and excitement on his son's face when he learns something new, reminds Brian of the enjoyment brewing can bring. If you want to get into brewing, Brian suggests getting a good pair of boots and marrying into a rich family.
